AAAWWW Nuts!!

Nuts are one of American's favorite treats.  They taste good and are hard to resist.  They are full of good nutrients but are also high in calories. You can still enjoy these treats though, just do it in moderation.

Nuts are one of the best sources of protein.  They have lots of Vitamin E and selenium, fiber, and phytonutrients. They also are rich in plant sterols and fat (mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated - omega 3 - which are the good fats). They can help lower your cholesterol.

Walnuts have high levels of omega-3 fatty acids.  These acids are found in tuna and salmon.  They lower triglycerides, and might slow down the growth of plaque in arteries and swelling throughout the body.

Almonds are rich in protein, and are high in magnesium, potassium, Vitamin E, and iron.  They also have monounsaturated fat that is good for the heart.

Brazil Nuts contain selenium that attacks free radicals that can cause heart disease and
cancers of the bowel, lung, prostate, and breast.

Cashews have a lot of iron for red blood and enzymes, magnesium for energy and bones, phosphorus for bones and teeth, zinc for digestion and metabolism, and selenium.

All of these nutrients are necessary for a healthy body.  You can get them by eating a small amount now and again, using them in baking, or using a nut spread on bread instead of butter.  So go a little nutty, your body will love you for it.
