Dealing With Anxiety and Stress

Dealing with Stress and Anxiety

Stress Comes in ALL Forms

Dealing with anxiety and stress isn’t always easy because they are part of our daily lives.  They often serve a good purpose in that they make us aware of situations that could be dangerous.  When the anxiety and stress starts to pile up and make our lives difficult it’s time to take stock of the situation and eliminate some of it. If we do not eliminate the stress it can cause some serious physical problems.  These include headaches, insomnia, diabetes, depression, hair loss, anxiety disorder, and sexual dysfunction.

Some steps for dealing with anxiety and stress are:

1. Take time to figure out what is causing the stress.  Write the reasons down to help you focus on them.

2.  If the situation needs action take time to figure out what action should be taken.  If the situation is imaginary figure out if it could actually happen and then what action you should take.

3.  Some things can’t be controlled.  What you should do is figure out which part is under your control.  You can channel your nervous energy and take action to protect yourself to gain the reassurance you need to deal with the anxiety.

4.  Play more.  Play games with your kids, friends, spouse or even a pet.

5.  Accept what you can’t change and change what you can.  Not everything can be controlled and we all need to remember that.

6.  Learn to eat more healthy.  Eating more veggies and fruits will help you get the nutrients you need to deal with stress.  Using stimulants like caffeine or nicotine could keep you on a nervous high.

7.  Do all you can and then let it go.  This part of dealing with anxiety and stress isn’t easy to do but as you practice it becomes easier.  If your stress and anxiety seem not to go away or increase try talking to your friends or a professional.

8.  Other ways of dealing with anxiety and stress are writing in a journal meditate, listening to relaxing music, and praying.
